Directional deluge nozzles reduce fire heat release rates by 28%

August 6, 2019

Directional deluge nozzles were shown to reduce the peak fire heat release rates in a tunnel by 28% compared to standard deluge nozzles, when operated with an air velocity of 5 m/s. This is one of the results of a research programme undertaken at the San Pedro de Anes Test Centre in Spain, and sponsored by the Land Transport Authority in Singapore. The results of the research will presented at the forthcoming 18th  International Symposium on Aerodynamics, Ventilation & Fire in Tunnels in Athens, Greece, being held on 25th – 27th September 2019 .
