ICE Publishes Lessons from Buncefield Incident

October 15, 2014

The Institution of Civil Engineers has published an article on lessons learnt from the Buncefield incident in the latest edition of its Civil Engineering Journal, co-authored by Dr Fathi Tarada of Mosen Ltd. A massive explosion and fire at the Buncefield oil terminal in Hertfordshire, UK on 11 December 2005 caused significant damage to the terminal and neighbouring buildings. Significant environmental damage was also caused by leakage of petroleum products and contaminated firewater through failed secondary containment bunds and tertiary containment measures. The paper can be read here.
